Just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this similar situation- I couldn’t find an exact experience like mine on the internet so far. The Owlet has been such a peace of mind up until this that I think I’m going to go get a new one so that if it l were to happen again with a new device then something probably is actually wrong. That made me feel better but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried or nervous anymore. I called Owlet cust service first thing this am to see if they happened to have any of the same complaint from anyone else or any app complications lately etc and neither- then I called my pediatrician and explained everything- she said she truly thinks it was a fluke since it was a very isolated occurrence, readings went back to normal, and baby has never had any health issues etc- but if it was not a fluke- that it is possible a spike like that could have happened and went back to normal- and as long as back to normal he should be okay. I purposefully did not readjust his sock before I put him back down so I would know if placement was an issue- his readings were right back to the normal low 100’s and stayed that way the remainder of the night. This scared me so badly as usually the false alarms people complain about are low oxygen and low heart rate due to poor sock placement because it’s not firmly or correctly against baby’s skin to get proper reading. We then look at what the notification said- high heart rate 225 BPM. Obviously he woke up from me grabbing him out- seemed completely OK- no distress whatsoever. It happened at 3am- alarm sounded- I immediately flung from the bed and grabbed him out of his bassinet beside me- dad ran over- the 2 seconds I was looking at him while grabbing him out he was so peaceful that he was either asleep or so calm that he appeared to be. 5th so to all of a sudden receive an alert like this has me worried. Baby is a little over 3 mos old and he has worn this every night since Dec. Last night we experienced our first red alert with the Owlet.
